As a freelance photographer born and raised in New York City, Darius Vick
has been greatly inspired by metropolitan life and its rich culture.
Vick has spent the last three years chronicling the lives and the stories of the
modern black urban riding community through the lens of his camera.
Traveling throughout major urban cities including New York, Philadelphia,
Chicago, Boston and Los Angeles, Vick brilliantly captures the intriguing
subculture of the black riding community. The result is an extensive
collection of over 8,000 images that highlight black bikers working on their
bikes to the various landscapes in which they ride. An avid hardtail chopper
rider, Vick utilizes the bike he rides to carry his camera that captures a
lot of the images found in the Denim & Chrome: The Evolution of Black Bikers
project. For future exhibit dates and other news please visit www.denimandchrome.com.
