These foot pegs were made by a guy I considered a friend, who passed on a few years ago. Johnny Chop was a motorcycle builder/fabricator i met back when he worked for Chica Custom Cycles and I worked for American Iron Magazine.
Chop did some good work with Chica, he got around and furthered his reputation by proving himself a stand-up and funny guy (well he cracked me up anyway). He worked for Chica for as long as he could and then be broke out on his own. One of his last accomplishments before his untimely passing was coming up with a few parts for sale, these pegs being one of them.
He had just made them…and we spoke a day or so later. I was like” these are done, ready to go??” he said yes – and i asked him to just wrap em up and send em out – and I’d send him a check pronto ….he came through like a champ and I paid up. They went right on the FXR.
Ya know every time i put my foot on these substantial and well-made stinkers, I think of Chop and I know he is up there smiling down on me when i take a turn real tight, cock the bike right over speedy style and leave a trail of brass on the pavement…. Stay Gold, brother Chop – you are missed and remembered.
I look at the bike now and I recall the parts I had lined up and was gong to have him make.. shame we never got to do that, would have been cool.
