Welcome to 45dgree..a photographic celebration of the American Dream

My name is SteveB, I am an American, I see horsepower as art. I believe Industry is strength.

I celebrate the details, the owner tweaks, mods and fixes and the exciting mechanica of it all.

I don’t shoot in operating theaters or fancy well-lit sets, because that’s not where a machine lives or breathes fire… these images… they are in context.

Out in the world  I am an opportunist, looking for the gem that catches my eye on the road….I take what I can and am thankful for the fleeting glimpse.

I love the USA , and honestly, I fear for it. I am afraid of the legacy our generation is leaving behind. The very thing that made us great – our industry and industriousness – is rapidly fading from view. I refuse to let it fade without at least an effort to capture it’s reality and share it. I am enthralled by the places we’ve worked and by the workplaces we’ve shuttered. I am aware of the ghosts of our industrious past…. I call this body of work I am pursuing, Abandoned America..
