Real Friends by Jefff “Maddog” Maddox

Last Sunday morning in White City, I was sitting at the gas station waiting for some co-workers to show up for a ride. It’s not something we usually do together, but it seem like the thing to do. I always like being on main street on a Sunday as there is absolutely no one around. Every so often another local will drive by and a wave is exchanged. The sun was coming up and in a world of perfect alignment, it shines right down the middle of the street shining off the bricks and as I sit there I reflect on a life in this small town. Virtually everyone has heard of Route 66, or Highway 101 in California.  They are both great and legendary roads, don’t get me wrong.  But let me tell you about the other end of the “101”.

Getting the flathead back on the road….

A friend of mine has an impressive collection of motorcycles. A couple of the later model Harleys he rides regularly. His ’46 Flathead has been registered continually for a few decades, but it hasn’t been on the road for about a year. As with anything, especially a 65 year old motorcycle, it needed a little coaxing…. Continue Reading →

Here’s A Little Tip by 8 Ball Brian

A lesson I learned a long time ago is that not everyone enjoys camping.  Personally, I love it, and staying overnight in a motel just seems strange to me.  But I found a website a couple of years ago, that covers the gambit of overnight lodging.  Continue Reading →

Spring is Here by Jeff “MadDog” Maddox

Spring is here. As a biker we live for these days and of course take full advantage of them. But where does the time go? On the weekend I wake up in the morning, try to get some things done around the house, run some errands and hopefully get a ride in sometime. Not always. It never fails that some things don’t get done, whether it’s intentional or not. Continue Reading →

A Road Story by 8 Ball Brian

I have told people many times about how my old 73 Beezer 650 Thunderbolt was about the best handling bike I ever had.  That’s her in the pics, while she isn’t the sweetest looking bike I have ever had, she was by far the best handling, in an almost psychic way.  I have rubbed pipes and pegs on other bikes before and since.   Continue Reading →

That Damn Pine Tree by Kevin Moore

An abandoned coal mine stood within riding distance of my house as a kid. It was a huge trench thirty feet deep, fifty feet wide, and about two hundred feet long. The sides were steep with trails that ran between adolescent maple and oak trees, re-growth from clear cutting done decades before. Continue Reading →

Anticipation ~ Sorez The Scribe

Have we known each other forever
Traveled the same roads together
Or does it just seem that way …
Your voice comforts my being
Your laughter touches my soul
Peace and harmony walk hand in hand
Every time that we talk.
You are on my mind every waking moment
And when I sleep I dream of you
You have reached a place I’ve kept hidden
Deep within my heart
I want to, long to, be by your side
Treat you like no man ever has
With love, respect, compassion and kindness
Hold you close and never let you go
Take you with me upon that journey
Together on down the road

Motorcycle Conflagration by Kevin Moore

Motorcycles are a polarizing form of transportation. Broach the subject and you will find people fall into two groups. On one side are the folks who think they are loud and dangerous, ridden by dirt-bag miscreants who eyeball women. On the other are those who lecture how the vehicle offers ultimate freedom, complete with the self-bolstering undercurrent of a social outsider.

A Loner.. No Longer… ~Sorez The Scribe

Bikers are passionate about their lives. We live, love, and laugh.. work hard and play hard.. And we ride. We ride
in the rain, ride in the cold, just ride around when there is no place to go. Living life in the wind and loving every
minute of it. I still remember the first time I ever hopped in the saddle and went for a ride. I was just a kid and
owned my first motorcycle before I even had a first girlfriend. Continue Reading →

30th Annual Oyster Run By 8 Ball Brian

XIAN Leather: hot diggity dog – confounding & astounding

I just got these from our inscrutable friend Christian of XIAN Leather. For a change of pace, I don’t have words to do this work justice, although “excellent” might suffice in circumstances where the audience was well informed.

“Stay Tuned” for more of this project, although ya just never know if and when Mr. Marsh will poke his head up from the  confines of his wooded compound – so I  am not making any promises – aight?

Writing for the Rest of Us by Mark Bellusci

Another writing rock star: Frank Lloyd Wright

To accomplish his architectural feats, Frank Lloyd Wright needed something we all need: a blueprint. Or the writing equivalent, an outline.A brilliant architect with an endless imagination, Frank Lloyd Wright designed by his own rules, in harmony with the environment around him. He had the vision to see what was possible, and the perseverance to see it through. Continue Reading →

Keeping Up With Jones by Rob Campbell

I read a book once by Tim O’Brien, a Viet Nam Veteran, called The Things They Carried.  Part of the novel discussed what the guys in a platoon carried with them in their packs. The basic idea was that, since you had to carry the stuff with you all the time, whatever you carried had to be damn important to take the space and weight in your gear. Continue Reading →
